Connecting up a Pickit2/3 to a microcontroller

Heres how to connect up some 10F, 12F and 16F series microchips, I will add some 18F series soon :)

For other PIC Microcontrollers, refer to the datasheet to identify the correct pin connections:

Some other notes, make sure that you have no components connected to the ICSPDAT and ICSPCLK Lines, has this can stop the pickit2/3 communicating to your microcontroller, especially if you are programming the microcontroller in circuit.
