I had this idea that someone would do something with the Commodore I.P. and then Emscom went bankrupt and Gateway did nothing with it.
I started searching off the shelf parts that could be used and I also thought I would need a math package if I wrote a language. I started my book search and came across this book. Maybe someone can find this useful for something.

Looks like an amazing book Chuck. One day I look forward to spending a whole heap of time delving right into the architecture of a computer from the 80's (most probably the C64)
Such fascinating times to have been working in the computer industry

If you do, the Toronto Pet User Group has a CD they sell with years worth of their work. The magazines from Compute, Compute's Gazette and Ahoy are online for free at commodore.ca and you can also buy two of the CD's from ebay if you don't have time to download them all.brad wrote:Looks like an amazing book Chuck. I have the Commodore Programmers Reference Manual and user manual. They use to give you the manuals back in the day. That is the one thing I appreciate about Commodore.
I also bought a C-16 off of ebay. There is also modern day SD card drive for the C-64 but I don't know what the status is right now..
I almost forgot the URL for the book on math:

Now that you mention it, I do remember something like an mmc64 coming out a few years back. The ds card version is most probably a bit updated from that.
I actually bought a whole heap of c64 gear from a garage sale not long ago. Full of great gear!

Re: The Definitive Guide to How Computers Do Math
I found another book on finite math. It is called "The Arithmetic of Computers" by Norman A. Crowder and it is dated 1960. If you are interested in binary manipulation, this book might be for you but this subject isn't taught much anymore but it may be instrumental in building a computer or using microcontrollers that don't have much of a math package.

I Actually just bought a book about cpu design that focuses on building your own ALU, control unit, programming microcode etc...
I'm looking forward to making my own cpu one day!

Re: The Definitive Guide to How Computers Do Math
I should have said I am looking forward to making a TTL cpu one day - not actually a CPU on a chip
