Ordinary mechanical buttons like tact switches are cheaper but a capacitive switch like this offers some variety.Unfortunately (of course for the people living there) there were some "catastrophical" issues in Japan. Surely everyone has heared of.
Since then the electronic component industry does not give any order confirmation dates at all because they do not know all the global dependencies.
