there’s a link to the ste2007 datasheet, it looks like you have your choice of SPI, i2c, or async serial. . .
BRAND NEW LCD DISPLAY SCREEN REPLACEMENT FOR NOKIA 1202

I'm on ebay now and I would like to interface these with the Pic. The other alternative is a more expensive display.
I think I could solder these if I can get a wire through the hole. In the comments, someone said it is .6 mm instead of 1 mm but I'm just guessing I can do it if I start soldering from two different hights.

I haven't bought this yet. I don't know these communication protocols but is it hard? Should I go ahead and get it?

The Pitch .6 mm is pretty small and could be a problem if your not used to soldering. Check out the 18F4550 Pic that brad uses for the Super Pixel Bro system, it has a Pitch of .8 mm and that can be tricky!.. theres plenty of videos out there for tips and tricks though for soldering small Pitch pin MCU/Components. you are right though you will need to source a breakout board so you can solder the LCD to something more usable.

The I2C system isn't an hard protocol, but you might have to make some routines up in code for the LCD display, you must get a good Datasheet for this LCD display, else theres no way to interface with it and there maybe certain commands that it needs to set it up!.
