It goes without saying: DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! See what happens when these trained professionals wearing state sanctioned safety gear experiment with the electrical currents that can run between their gloves and these power lines. Check out your closest Maker Faire for an up close look at cool experiments with electricity.
Easy folks...this is a training video. OSHA sanctioned. As a matter of fact, OSHA requires this training for all new lineman. This is probably a 300,000V line, judging by the tower and insulator spacing. This procedure is called "bare-handing" with the people and equipment being "bonded" to the system.
Perfectly safe IF done properly. If not, the person is reduced to smoke instantly, with nothing left to bury.....
Don't try this at home. This was done with rated safety equipment by professionals under company supervision. It is very very dangerous.. They also have to check the integrity of their gloves. One little crack and they're gone.
