Integrated Device Technology has announced that SMART Modular Technologies has chosen IDT as a preferred partner for its DDR4 NVDIMM (non-volatile dual in-line memory module) product. The offering includes the 4RCD0124K registered clock driver (RCD) and TSE2004GB2 thermal sensor with SPD, which are part of IDT’s NVDIMM chipset. The chipset is the only complete DDR4 NVDIMM solution available on the market and has been customer qualified and OEM validated.

NVDIMM technology delivers DRAM performance along with data persistence in the event of power loss by providing a mechanism to back up data from DRAM to non-volatile memory. NVDIMMs are installed into existing DIMM sockets in a system and are often heterogeneously populated alongside standard DIMMs. Without compromising the signal integrity of the motherboard channel, IDT’s high-performance multiplexer technology delivers fast, glitch-free bus-switching capabilities between system and local controllers on an NVDIMM. NVDIMMs utilising the IDT chipset can deliver maximum performance and extreme reliability in multi-slot server systems.

“The NVDIMM market is poised for strong growth as new applications and usage models emerge in the datacenter, enterprise and storage markets,” said Srida Joisa, Senior Director, SMART’s DRAM Product Line. “SMART is fully invested in the NVDIMM market and is excited to have IDT on as a preferred memory interface supplier for DDR4 NVDIMMs.”

“SMART Modular is a valued IDT customer, and we are pleased to be a preferred partner to enable their NVDIMMs with our industry-proven chipset,” said Rami Sethi, Vice President and General Manager, IDT’s Memory Interface Products. “NVDIMM is a fast-emerging technology for server and storage systems and IDT has been at the forefront of it with our full suite of DDR4 product offerings.”
