A fighter pilot passes out and technology saves his life seconds before he would have crashed into the ground.

Having worked on F-18's, I think it's strange this technology hadn't been put into place sooner. After all, there are loads of other avionics out there that take care of flying the plane automatically. Terrain Following RADAR (TFR) is a good example.
