Re: Simple questions.

Has the torque of the motor been an issue when you were prototyping? I have been wondering if anyone else had that issue. Did you do any counter balancing to prevent wobble or do you prefer to have the POV mounted to a vice or something? I have just used a medium sized motor that is rated upto 12v....

The new and improved one chip POV

Here are some pictures of my latest one chip POV project. I will have a dedicated page for this project on the site - but as you may have noticed I have not even managed to get my old projects upload as yet. Anyway, this new POV project uses just one pic18f4550 microcontroller. This does everything ...

Re: If you find some LEDs

The ones I have are from radioshack. They are 5mm defused. I would like to enlarge the design to 16+ LEDs. But the 5mm LEDs don't give a good resolution. So I want to go smaller but have not found any that are smaller. If someone can find some small rgb LEDs or an led bar of some sort it would be a...

This is probably useless info but if you cant get diffused LEDs then you can get a spray, If you have LEDs in a clear package you can diffuse them using Plasti-Kote Glass Frosting spray, obviously this maybe called something different in your area? but this works quite well but don't spray the LEDs...

Well I got the multiplication info from this http://www.asic-world.com/digital/arithmetic4.html#Multipliers site. It is a brilliant site! It has tons of information about digital electronics...I have no clue how I got there but I am glad I did. Nice site, thanks for the link, looks like you have so...

Re: What leds do you use on your pov projects

What leds do you use? My yellow and White dont mix right. Also in your other pov it looks like you have smaller ones. I want a higher reselution so I would prefer those. -Digg- I use 5mm common cathode diffused RGB LED's MAKE SURE YOU USE DIFFUSED!!! otherwise there is no 'substance' to hold onto t...

Ok as I understand I don't have to use the D pins. All I need are the Q and OC pins right? What do pin 20 (Vcc) and pin 11(C+) actually do? Take a look at this pinout: http://www.eee.deu.edu.tr/~ozkurt/comporg/ekonomi/hw2006/cansubora/images/resim/74373pinout.gif You definitely do need the D0 - D7 ...

Re: pic 18f4520

Ok I´ve found this on the web but how do I know what each pin is? http://www.hvwtech.com/products/883/pic4520_pinout.gif For example pin1 = MCLR/Vpp/RE3 but I have no idea what that means. hope you can explain a little to me about this pic 18f4520. That is a good question. Most pins if not all pins...

Very cool indeed. I do remember reading somewhere that no matter what kind of mathematic function a digital computer does - it is always using addition :D For example I know that to subtract one binary number from another, you actually add them together but you invert the number that you want to act...

Re: 16 Channel LED Driver (TLC 5940)

I thought of you guys when I came across this 16 Channel LED Driver (TLC5940). I've never used it but I may be interested in using it in the future and with the LED and POV signs, I believe there may be some future usefulness here. http://focus.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tlc5940.pdf Very nice indeed. Now that is really cool = )

do you just input the text and tell it to rotate and it spits out a file for you?

I thought that you had grabbed it from the microchip site or something like that :D

I have seen this one before and thought it was quite cool. I was thinking of making something similar but I don't quite know how to get it so that they are all in perfect sync with one another. I guess you need to start each animation all at the exact same time.
