Interesting brad - what hardware are you going to use for the battery cable?

Re: pickit 2

Yep, in many ways the 18F family are far easier to learn on as well. There is a line in the sand with new devices and their learning curve. The 24Fand dsPIC range have incredibibly more onboard hardware which comes with the added cost of complexity and errata. Long story short, the 18F range is the ...

Re: pickit 2

The 16F range is good, although most devices are 20+ years old. I made this picture a while ago to compare them for those not familiar with microcontrollers :)

Looking good brad. The iPod battery - I am interested to hear more about them, how much are they and do they have their own charging circuitry onboard?

Re: The reason the site was down due to bandwidth.

Wow Brad, must have a pretty important reason to sell it all! Do you still have the passion for retro games? If it helps, you can make a dummy article at Digital DIY and put the images up there. I have around 1500GB/mth bandwidth, and usually only need about 250GB for DD * edit - you may not be fami...

Re: DMX Controller

Looks like we're both on this one Brad :) I suggested otherwise as the impedance of the RC filter would be too high for the mic to drive. Perhaps placing the filter on the low impedance opamp output would be ideal - the opamp could easily drive the rc filter and the output is going to a high impedan...

Re: PIC TETRIS/inverting pulses

Someone else is also venturing into a HUGE version of PICTris and asked a similar question (about inverting the signals). They're also looking at including audio as first implemented by DomS from DD . A question - transistors are great, though they can chew precious PCB space very quickly (also requ...

Re: Repost, great 10 x 12 Matrix video.

A few guys at Digital DIY are putting together an excellent DMX lighting module for the Swordfish compiler.. It allows control of up to 512 channels (with any DMX compatible devices). Looks like the above project makes use of RGB lighting, which would be 330 channels on a 10x11 grid. With the hardwa...

Re: Moving to a new hosting company

I recently upgraded Digital DIY to a private server - It's likely that your all over it, in any case here's some tips from my experience: 1) Disable the phpbb3 board from the ACP 2) Make a backup of the site 3) Update DNS settings for your domain 4) Upload the backup data and enable/configure the ne...

Re: Electromagnetic Railgun world record setting event

The amount of energy involved here is staggering - the same amount of energy as 7.88 tons of TNT.. Impressive is an understatement .. unless you're the one their aiming at. Unlike TNT, the rail-gun's principle of destruction is kinetic energy - aim it at another boat or building and everything it pi...

Re: Universal PIC project board

Every hobbyiest needs their own practical development board - lots of learning curves and enjoyment along the way 8) Also if someone has more information on how the MAX232 chip works or a circuit for it. I wrote an article a long time ago when I first started using the MAX232 - perhaps I should upda...
