Re: I2C LCD Displays with PCF8574

I was thinking late last night and I forgot to mention the LCD backlight control. I know I said the PCF8574 only uses 7 pins, that's not totally true. I forgot to mention PCF8574 P3 is actually the LCD backlight control.. So I stand corrected, the PCF8574 uses all 8 pins to control the LCD. So the s...

Re: I2C LCD Displays with PCF8574

Thanks. I've usually used these LCDs in 4-bit mode, with 6 lines (just grounding the R/W, which just means you have to give it enough delay that you know each instruction is finished, since you can't poll it). I have working sample code in different forms at http://wilsonminesco.com/6502primer/LCDc...

Re: I2C LCD Displays with PCF8574

Hi Garth.. Thanks for your comments and kind words, Yes they are 5v devices, I think the PCF8574 will even run at 3.3v (I've not tested), but I don't know if that will have any effect on the LCD (I will have to test that). No I don't actually sell the I2C module or LCD, for me here in the UK they ar...

I just wanted to share that I have added a new module for Swordfish so you can now use the cheap LCD displays with the I2C PCF8574 chip boards :D

Programming using PicKit4 Swordfish

pickit4device.png I thought this was worth sharing that you can now use the PicKit4 with the Swordfish IDE to now programme microchips using a command line.. As time changes I guess we all have to move with the times, I still have my much loved PicKit2 and PicKit3.. Also Swordfish now supports some...

Re: PIC Microcontroller Primer – Tutorial #2

Is this tutorial still valid or has something changed? I must be doing something wrong if it is. Hi Vallance, Has this tutorial was posted by a forum member, and the links/code seem to be missing I would gather this tutorial is no longer valid. Is there something we can help you with specifically? ...

Re: JLCPCB - PCB only $2 :)

So sorry for the late reply guys  A lot of things going on at the end of this year, which meant not much time to visit the forum. Thank you Garth for your recommendations, I will take that on board if I ever redesign or remake this board, has it happens the board actually turned out fine and w...

JLCPCB - PCB only $2 :)

I've recently seen a bunch of youtube videos relating to JLCPCB, 10boards for $2, that seems a lot cheaper than iTead PCB, So I thought I would give it a go with my next project. I've placed my first order with them for 50mm X 50mm 10 PCB's which came to about £1.41p here in the UK, wth shipping the...

Re: A PIC language actually based on Visual Basic

I think the post got deleted I'm afraid. The "Raptor IDE" I was talking about actually got renamed just before it was release to "Firewing", this can be found at the following link. http://www.firewing.info/ I've done a lot with the Firewing programming language and fully recommend it if you are use...

Re: MakerBuino build yourself kit

Yes I've seen you have been busy, looks like Retroball is doing very well, I'm sure ill be backing it but waiting too see what funds I have over next few weeks :) I really like that you've designed it around the arduino and pic. There seems to be a lot of discrete components there - are they mainly ...

MakerBuino build yourself kit

As we all love anything electronic and to do with gaming here I thought I would share this! :) I was a Kickstarter backer to this project back in Feb 2017, and I have just received my kits (July). The Makerbuino is based on the GAMEbuino except that it's a kit that you build yourself which includes ...

If this is a genuine post then isn't it just down to the compiler optimisation levels?.
