PIC 24FJ256DA210

The Microchip website says, "Ideal for Graphical interface applications that can benefit from the integrated Graphics, 96K byte RAM for frame buffer, mTouch, USB and other peripherals."

They are about $8 dollars per chip which may be a bit pricey and the chip may be cheating in terms of creating video for you instead of trying to do it all yourself.

The datasheet is here:

http://www.microchip.com/wwwproducts/De ... e=en547869

The graphical features are:

Quote:
Graphics Controller Features:
• 3x Graphics Hardware Acceleration Units
• Color Look-up Table (CLUT) with Maximum of 256 Entries
• Direct Interface to Monochrome, C-STN, TFT, OLED
• Resolution up to 640x480 @30Hz, 16 bpp, or 480x272 @60Hz, 16 bpp

-from the datasheet

I found out about it from 6502.org (Programmable Logic Forum) because other users use Microchip devices. They also found this thread to be interesting in creating video:

I certainly don't think of it as cheating.

I had this same mindset when going from ASM to basic. I thought that I was taking the easy way out because you can do complex tasks with basic with ease compared to asm.

But then I think of analogies like - my work is 40Km from my house. I have legs so it is possible for me to walk to work (it would just take a very long time) But instead I chose to purchase a car and drive that because it simplifies the task.
