The idea is that there is a gold mine in old pcb boards. What is the truth? It isn't as profitable or as easy as you might think.
I read this article called "A Real Gold Mine?" on Tom's Hardware. They went through the work and the amount of gold they got for all their hard work was the size of a BB. You will have to go to page 18 of the slide show to see the result:

I don't know the motivation of the seller. Perhaps there are good intentions or maybe someone wants to unload their junk. But if it was so profitable, why aren't they doing it? It isn't as profitable as some people might think.
Let the buyer beware.
And as an aside: If Liquid Plumber doesn't hurt your pipes, why doesn't it come in a metal can?
