"One Octave Toy Organ"
I hope to make the
"One Octave Toy Organ" another tutorial very soon. It will be a follow up to the timers/interrupts. Currently, I have a couple other projects to tackle. The first being the write up for the PWM tutorial (since the code is already finished).
I created an audio chip that plays songs / sound FX - one note at a time. It is an expansion of the "Toy Organ" project.
I have not posted it because I didn't want to have to try and explain it. It would be a very lengthy write up and I am not sure I could explain it very well anyway.
I put the audio chip on hold for a while because I need to fully understand how to implement PWM in order to expand it's possiblities.
As for the Mario music:
I composed (programmed) several of the Mario songs on the chip and sent it to Brad for use in his LEDBoy. It is the ONE AND ONLY in existance as I have not had the chance to make any more (just yet).
A brief explanation of the "AUDIO CHIPS": (and why)
I would like to make several different audio chips for people to implement audio into their projects. The chips are called "
MonoFonic Audio Chips" and there will be several series of chips. The first being the
MB01 which stands for Mario Brothers 01 (the first in the Mario Brothers series).
The chip I sent Brad is a 16-pin DIP. I made it by placing two Microchip 12f617's in one 16-pin DIP socket, then I overmolded and laser marked it.
Here is the Mario theme song:

Here is the datasheet I made to accompany the MB01:

Maybe someday I'll get around to making a tutorial on how I make the chip play songs and sounds but I fear that is a long way off!
